STEP-USA is the first step of German startups into the US market - and GOENOMICS was there in September 2023

It is easy for German start-ups and companies to expand into the European market from their home market. The legal and tax regulations are easy to follow, and important tasks such as paying invoices and receiving money are simple given the well-connected banking system. Expanding into the US market is more difficult. Legal and tax regulations are different from those in Europe in general, and most states have different regulations on top of that. And, very importantly, there are cross-cultural differences in building business relationships. GOENOMICS was selected by NBank to join a group of startup teams from Lower Saxony in AHK New York's STEP-USA program. We had several days of seminars and presentations on legal and tax issues, intellectual property rights, pitch training and US business culture, complemented by visits to the New York University Startup Space, a pitch night to local investors and plenty of networking opportunities with the other startups from Lower Saxony.
